A couple from this past weekend. The second shot was intentional, the composition was lucky. His bunt bounced back up in the field of view. Shot about 25 feet away with 400. Full image, no crop. I thought it was different so decided to post and see what others think.

Excellent dynamics in #1 and the point of action is perfect.

#2 is interesting but, I think, without knowing the game, most people won't pick up on the bunt idea because the position of the hand on the bat won't register. JMO, but I think "John Q Public" will wonder why the batter is in such a "weird" stance with the ball comin in from the pitcher.

Your explanation makes the picture work but on its own, I'm not certain most people will "get it." It's a helluva catch though!!

The first one is good, I would have deleted #2.

I actually like them both... and I hate baseball! The second one is cool because it is different. I knew it was a bunt and I have probably never seen an entire game through of baseball...

although, did you get the foreground blurry in PP? Seems kind of sharp contrast for DOF...

Bunt - I first thought was...it was a sweet pitch but the batter just couldn't pull the trigger...froze! Many opinions will differ!

No PP to increase blur. That is the contrast you get with that 400 and wide apertures and close focal distance. Super sharp focus area and very smooth and soft blur. I just love that lens.

#1 is very solid. those shots aren't easy to come by so congrats on a great capture. I have to side with Chris on #2, interesting shot but headed for the bin unfortunately.

Cool. I just thought it looked "too good to be true." Thanks for that, now I have to add another lens to my "wish list"! ;)
