I'm in need of a lens in the very near future and I've narrowed it down to these 2 lenses. I've seen the threads on both and done a bit of research but would like to hear what people feel are the pros and cons of both lenses. I like having the wider end of the 24-60, as I have a home studio and not a ton of room. I've heard great reviews about the Tamron and it sharpness.

I guess I'm looking for the little things that make or break the perceptions of these lenses.

Thanks

I *heart* my Tamron. I love how sharp it is, and it's a great walkabout lens. I've also put it to work in portraits, weddings and studio work. However, I'm about to replace it with a Canon 24-70 2.8L soon, so I might be selling mine :)

I would rate the Tamron a better optic overall, but the Sigma is an excellent lens at an even better price. And those 4mm on the wide end are not to be overlooked. If you can put up with 28mm as your widest, then go with the Tam.

The Tamron is a better lens, The Sigma a better value perhaps.

I wish I could wait and buy used but I need it by this weekend so I have to order today.

As far as focus goes is there a big difference in focus speeds betwen the 2?

No, it's a wash.
