Brick and Mortar + Gift Cards + Internet = Hard to find merchandise shipped to me

Quoting a friend of mine "If only you could use your powers for good."

Here's how I'm going to order something on the Internet and NOT get caught by my wife.

A national retail chain's online site has the 120-Gig Wolverine ESP portable storage unit with the docking station (their brick and mortar outlet does not have it, ever). They want $519 for it online. It's a bit more than I'd like to spend, but other option is the local camera store for $350 on the 80-Gig model without the $70 docking station.

I'm going to go into their store and pay cash for $500+ in gift cards. Then I'm going to go to the online site and redeem the gift cards towards my purchase. My AAA discount gets me about 8% off as well ;) .

Ok, so it's not the most ingenious of plans, but she's got my boys locked away in a box somewhere and I can't find them.

Isn't this how you got your title in the first place.

Sounds risky. She may not know what any of that stuff does but she sure as h**l can recognize a new item.

It's the little gifts I give myself that fill in the gaps between holidays.

Hmmm... She does recognize new things, doesn't she... I'll have to get her something to distract her from my new toy. I'll get her flowers the day I place my order. I'll hold the gift to her until the package arrives. Who knows? I may get my new toy AND sex on the same day.

Frequenting THIS site is what gave me the title.

Let's do some comparisons here.

$500+ gadget vs. $18 flowers.

I suggest you blind her with the glare from diamonds. She'll be seeing stars.

better be more than flowers. lol. my hubby ordered 700 dollars worth of toys for himself a few weeks ago.. didnt tell me till they came ( im home all day) i opened the box because the acct was set up in my name. ( i didnt know we had ordered anything ) i looked at the receipt and was instantly in a fit of anger.

her came home a few hours later with a grip for my camera, flowers, and some yankee candles.

he knew he was in trouble. but i got something cool out of it anyway.

That's great! So for every good toy you give a toy in return and every one is happy.

Although, you get to keep it when you beg for forgiveness rather than ask for permission.

HOLY FARFEGNUGEN BATMAN!!

I've just had an EEEE-HEEEE-VILLLL brain storm!

Wal-Mart sells major credit card company gift cards. Visa, MasterCard, American Express, one of them is on the shelves and ready for me to use. I don't need to shop at places with brick-and-mortar gift card sales. I can shop at B&H! I can shop at Adorama!

These cards behave differently than regular credit cards, however. Something to do with the fees being billed to the card purchaser. I'll have to do a test run with B&H on a smaller item. If the test works, I'll let you know.
