I thought I should test out my new 100-400 last weekend, and this starling kindly obliged. This is pretty much straight out of the camera. I had a 100-400 a couple of years ago but sold it after a brief fling with the darkside. I must say this copy (new style with on/off label instead of I/O) is much sharper.

Thanks guys for the comments.

Tonyage, this one was with the 100-400 (I've corrected my blog post)

I'm pretty happy with the 1-4, and I had a really hard time deciding between it and the 400 and 300. I'd owned the 1-4 and 400 before and preferred the 1-4, but the 300 was looking tempting. In the end though the 1-4 won out and I'm glad I picked it.

Hi Justin;

I see you manged to make the best of our winter here in the South - all 2 days of it!

That's a stunning image... I've said before that Starlings get a bad press; but they are a VERY colourful bird...

Nice work;

Cheers;

Lee

The overcast sky and light reflected from the snow has really brought the colours to life in the bird. Great shot. I just watched one empty the entire feeding dish of mealworms in about 3 seconds flat....better go put some more out for the Robins before they get the hump!
