Wow, a HUGE improvement from what you posted prior to this: https://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=453889

I honestly think that's a ton of photos to go through (I did hit them all) I liked 117 because of the shaving of the ice -- looks like the puck handler is fooling the defenseman big time!

Looks like you shot about 4 games and I'm sure that was tiring. So what were your settings? What'd you learn/do different from last time?

I'd like to know the answers to Justin's post as well. I think your newer shots are much better as well, you are definitely improving. The only thing I didn't really like were the high angle shots; they didn't do anything for me, seemed like too much of a snapshot.

Geneline,

You definitely have improved. I agree that there are way too many shots to go through, though.

In general, I'd concentrate on getting faces (and the puck, if possible, though this isn't required) and wait for the action to come to you. The shots of the backs of players at a distance aren't what you're looking for, and there are a lot of these images on your site.

Thanks so much you guys! It really means alot to me that I've improved! :D My settings:
f2.8
1/500-1/700 sec.
ISO 3200
Shot in RAW
CWB
Evaluative metering
AI focus
What did I do differently - bought the 70-200 f2.8 IS, custom white balanced and read losts of posts for hockey on here!

I did some pp like a little sharpenning on some and brightening. Sorry about the number of pictures (I should have shaved it down to show on here) they were meant for the parents to see about 5-10 pictures of their kid.

The high angle was because that's the only place I could take the pictures without shooting through glass. I will be pickier with the shots I take (faces, action coming to me and watch my horizon).

Geneline

Thanks again guys!

huge improvement, pictures look really good. There are some that really need to be cropped or cropped tighter and they would be great
