oi - i want a go in that little toy of yours.....

i promise to have all 4 wheels attached to it still - when i give it back...

Happy to oblidge when the opportunity arrises. Which it should within 6 months. I won't be running the car during the winter rounds, but will do a few summer rounds carrying multiple on-board cameras. I won't be looking for results as I want to get some more footage. Not serious about defending the title - I have no desire to do so to be honest. I have essentially suceeded myself out of the game, which has its good and bad points.

We can do a test day where I can give you a skid. Happy to let you do so if you agree to pay for damages if you snot it into the wall!

At a base cost you'd be looking at around $1200 a round to lease a car with no team support - and you'd still have to pay practice and entry fees etc.

To do fully supported rounds (team support, entries and other fees paid, but you still pay for damage) it'll hit you for anywhere between 2-4K per round - depending on who you go to.

I spent 20K last season doing both winter and summer series. Although about 2-3 of that was spent fixing crap after brake failure at Winter Series and also from another prang when someone hit me at Puke in one of the early round (damaged bodywork and some slight chassis damage, smashed battery too)

20K is heaps for the championship I would think. 7-8 rounds in total (uncertain of calendar yet).

No cut off date for rego, just get a licence (simple) and enter the first round before the entry cut off date (which would be three weeks before the first event - sometime in late Sept or early Oct)

We should probably stop hijacking this thread I guess.

Good guess, but not quite (I am impressed all the same). Float levesl normal affect 'normal' running conditions (like a slight lack of grunt down the back straight at Puke for instance - slight fuel starvation - but not enough to cause popping or crackling etc).

I can't expect you guys to diagnose this sort of thing without seeing the carbs and driving the thing anyway, but when it happens like I described, it's too little accelerator pump. Only really noticeable in a long braking area too, like going into the final corner at Dunlop. Big delay when you get back on the gas cause the throttles open up and the pumps don't send enough gas down there. It's like turning the damn car off as you enter a corner - worse thing is you cannot actually drive around it unless you stay on the gas as you brake (not recommended).

Accelerator pump duration or volume?

I got the samething on my bike but it was going down hills with the throttle closed.
Would thake a couple of seconds to respond with anything other than coughs and splutters.
The float level keeps dropping (the adjuster tab is weak).

- which used to chew everything out quickly (like throttle butterfly shafts and the like)

My old Triumph used to do that, but it didn't even have accelerator pumps.
I just used to give the throttle a quick pump to help it catch up. Don't know if that would be recommended on a light weight single seater though........

I fixed it by fitting different carbs, big 175 Strombergs with accelerator pumps.

The Lynx dropped a cylinder on the way home one day, and I spent quite a bit of time trying to figure out why. It had spark, and it had fuel. It was only when I looked inside the carb and saw the Venturi had broken off that I found the problem. It was wedged halfway into the inlet manifold, lucky it came off in one piece.

Is that Hug transferable for cash??

So long and thanks for all the flash

Hey everyone, I know that I haven't posted in here for a while.

not that you can kick me out or anything. but I know some of you may be interested to know that I got a job offer this afternoon with Axon. Starting monday. I am happy with the deal that they are offering me. since I have been out of commission since Feb 07, it's going to be good to get back in to it again.

I have already sent a e-mail off to akl camera center and pro gear asking for some prices on kit :)

That's awesome, Mark :)

You'll be stomping in FlyinPete and my sisters old hood. Is there an Axon Branch in Hamiton?

When do you start?
