andrew whats the use of this... private individuals - work - etc

volume licensing is the cheapest way to go but only if you have an existing volume license or need to purchase more than 5 ms products or licenses. and this allows you to add more on to it at a later date... you aso get upgrades etc. (but imo its a con)

$400 for retail excel is going to the best option i think, but as i don't know the full ins and outs then this is hard to say....

welcome to the joys of 500 ways to purchase a ms license and still get screwed on price.

I spoke to an MS sales representative a few years back about some requirements we had for a mix of various software we needed. In the end the rep just said "I don't really know which way you should go, it's just too confusing....", which sums it all up really.

Drag racing on EPSN beckons....

The impossible has begun - another step closer - and I am very hungry for it.

For work, we mostly use OpenOffice, but accounts have need for Excel, as OpenOffice is not as compatible with exported file types as we would like.
So it needs to be a legitimate, for small business license, and since only accounts need it, we only need 3 copies, not 50 (and preferably not at $400 each).

Here is the NZ cost for the OEM office standard which is going to be cheaper:

Microsoft OEM Office 2007 Basic MLK (3 Pack) *Medialess License Kit *Includes Word, Excel & Outlook

[IMAGE TOO SMALL, NOT RENDERED INLINE]

$642.00
Now thats cost for 3 full OEM office 2007 Basic edition licenses....sure your not really using OEM but depends how much you care. So expect to pay cost + GST + 10-30% depending where you buy it from. If you really want I can pass you on to our dealer who will happily sell to you @ 8-12% iirc.

Please note OEM is meant only to be installed on new machines and not existing ones, althoguh this is done all the time its not technically legal.

I can enquire on the prices of 3 copies of excel etc, but OEM will be by far the cheapest, retail as you already know will set you back a fair few bobs, even with a 3 pack of ONLY excel (often office basic is cheaper/the same).

Enough geek talk, my Pulsar (1997) 65k on the clock GA16DE engine...now all you petrol heads I need some quick advice.

Cam belt squeaks, more when wet/damp and its starting to become more frequent and sometimes constant. Doesn't occur in dryer conditions/running time of car increases.

How critical is it that I get it serviced, this week? Next week, within a month? Its been doing this for 6 months, getting worse and im due for a service now anyway but its a matter of fitting it in/urgency.

All good, except it is "Medialess". So it just the license's. No actual software.
(I saw that on "that who shall remain nameless suppliers" web site.)

Couple of problems:
If your GA16 has a noisy cambelt you might want to check your flux capacitor fluid level.
If it's low it can cause the cam belt to squeak.

Fortunately the problem is more likely a noisy accessory belt (because the GA16 uses a chain, not a belt, to drive the cam).
It likely just needs tightening, not a hard job at all. Half a turn with a spanner on the adjuster it often all they need.

So long and thanks for all the flash

hmmm, what to do...

24-70L

or

24-105L + other toys... (filters, Spyder2 or 3, new monopod...) - a good walkaround...

Paul quoted me some nice numbers... so I am sooo unsure what I want to do at this point... To save you from going into my gear list, I have - 17-40L, 70-200IS, 100mm macro...

This will most likely be my last purchase in a looooooong time... I will be cashtrated given that I am most likely increasing my mortgage to get the new house...

John;)

Believe... Work hard... and it will happen!
