Go for this one John. You would make it more worth it at least you can calibrate your screen and having cool looking pictures from the filters you are going to get. By the way I like your pot picture looks cool ;)

Damn, I really wana get the 1d3 problem is I am too young haha. oh well on the bright side I'll just make do with what I have

Thanks JJ. No one is too young to own a 1D3 -- just have the will, desire, and the pockets to own one.

Why don't you set a goal for yourself -- sell enough of your photos and you can afford a the 1D3... But at this point, and even if you won the Lotto, it would be better to focus on your style and getting the most out of your 400D. Then again, if you won the lotto then it wouldn't matter...

There are many on the forum that have made a few thousand $$$ with technology less than the 400D's one.

For me, it will remain a hobby... until someone is dumb enough to pay for my photos:p

John;)

Believe... Work hard... and it will happen!

And you can also actually feel the road/feel like you are really driving. It's quite enjoyable outside of town imo.

It's not that bad driving around the place, but it feels really heavy when you try to park it

And yea I agree with this, age should never limit you, to pursue your dreams.

Wait a min, actually ive been moaning about my power steering getting seemingly weaker for a while now, mebbe this is why? Ok so mebbe this is more important than I thought. At full lock it no longer pulls back and I can go around in circles without touching the wheel from stationary to any speed pretty much.

You might want to check the fluid level.

Power steering will not re-center the wheel, the wheel recenters itself based on the front suspension geometry, so it might also be in need of a wheel alignment.

My Car has no power steering :D makes it fun for other people to drive, I'm used to it after driving it for so long

Power steering is over rated!
Set the car up properly and you don't need it.

So long and thanks for all the flash

yeh i can relate. when i learned to drive years ago it was in a (then) 17 year old mark III cortina, with no PS of course. it was extremely tough to haul the wheel around when stationary, and during my driving test the instructor looked at me doing a 3pt turn and said "youre making heavy weather of that arent you?" it was a really hot day and i just pulled a face and kept turning.

well, a couple of months later the balljoints seized and dropped literally out of the bottom of the steering gear onto the road, while we were coming off a driveway. we were told that if we had been driving at speed we could have flipped the car, as it basically stopped dead, wheels locked.

what a difference new balljoints made! could steer the car one-handed even when not moving! no wonder the instructor was puzzled LOL

Evening all
Went down to TeAroha for a wedding in the weekend. Driving down, noticed that the Autumn colours are really starting to show, didn't get a chance to stop but may have a go at some nature stuff in the weekend.

Other than that, nothing much to report.

Tony, interested in what/where you got your stuff for your 64bit PC, its definitely time to update this thing!

PBTech will price match most places, and have advantage of being an established retail store.
I got my bits for my quad core machine there last year, for about the same as getting them from "The supplier that shall not be named".

Cool, I've got a friendly supplier who has really looked after me in the past so I will stay with them.

How did you decide on your spec. Reading reviews? There just seems to be such a huge amount of differing product available, its hard to make a decision.

I worked out what I needed, then read lots of reviews to try and understand what is in the market, the compared it all, and from that got together a list of what seemed to suit, then, posted a thread on the forum.
Got some advice from guys like CDS, and off went I bought the bits.
I also rang and talked to Chris, and Pete.

If I was to do it again I would get pretty much all the same bits, but a smaller power supply, and if I wasn't going to use it for gaming as well, a lower spec graphics card.
I think the higher spec quad core chips have also come down a bit in price recently too, although the Q6600 still seems to offer awesome value.

4MB of ram is so cheap now its silly not to get it, and don't believe all the crap about Vista. On a new high end machine, it rocks.

Also make sure what ever m/b you get has lots of SATA2 connectors. I have 4, plus one e-Sata which lets me hook up a portable HDD through a SATA cable, to get SATA transfer speeds, rather than USB or Firewire (it is a LOT faster).
Nothing like having lots of HDD space for photos, and lots of back up options.

So long and thanks for all the flash
