I wonder what tonight holds.

I see that someone got swept into the sea on the Kapiti coast while taking photos yesterday. A woman passing by plucked him from the sea.

Now that's the sort of weather I want to be shooting in. Just need to come up with a "tent" type arrangement for the gear so that I can keep the lens(e) free of big drops of water. I am hanging out for some "vicious weather" shots.

The impossible has begun - another step closer - and I am very hungry for it.

Best spot would be the "gap" spary drift and sand maybe issue. Get a kata rain/weather cover and make a larger hood.

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:

well just had a play with the new canon kit lens with IS.

I was rather impressed with it, the zoom is smoth, and focus is speed if fast and quite, inifintly better than the old one.
The manual focus has been improved, but is still crap though.
And, the IS really works, and works well.
The 450D it was attached to however was cramped and difficult to use.

So long and thanks for all the flash

Woohoo. I now have my nice Cokin X series filter holder and a nice 3stop grad filter (soft).

The filter itself is 130mm wide, but I have purchased a 77mm adaptor to use with my super wide.

Surprisingly for platic, the filet holder has a very solid feel to it, as does the filter itself, which is almost 3mm thick. One big chunk of filter.

More motorsport next weekend to put it through its paces. Cool.

Cliff

who has experience with either the 1.4 or 2.0 extender and 70-200 F2.8L?

I'm thinking I may get one for a sports exchange next week

Please explain how it's crap.

Cool, any price on it yet to buy as separate item? Is it worth it (in your opinion)

Harden up (actually I agree, got one here at work too). Then again, my 350D still gets hammered on select outings. Has served me well. I shall ask for a state funeral to be held for it when the time comes for it to go to camera heaven.

No issues with the1 .4 but the 2x looses IQ make sure you get the mk2 versions of the canon TC's

There is nothing wrong with the 2x but needs to be used only on big whites for which it was designed
