What strikes me as odd about that shot is that it looks to me like we are seeing the rear of the lens causing the vignetting in that shot, which shouldn't happen (the square shape gives it away). That doesn't seem right to me. The impossible has begun - another step closer - and I am very hungry for it.

Especially when someone posting the same stuff (taken from a 1D - so still full frame) only produced a 'normal' vignetting. Looks to me like your lense had some sort of different mount or something.
