No lens hood? Just the lense in that shot?

Cliff

It was a while ago, but yeah I'm pretty sure the lens hood wasn't on.

What strikes me as odd about that shot is that it looks to me like we are seeing the rear of the lens causing the vignetting in that shot, which shouldn't happen (the square shape gives it away). That doesn't seem right to me.

I'll have a go on Tony's machine tomorrow (if we head out) and return my findings. I would have expected a round crop.

It makes perfect sense, the 10-20 and 10-22 are crop sensor lenses, so they have a smaller image circle, which shows up on the larger full frame sensors.

Perhaps time for more honey puffs?

So long and thanks for all the flash

In fact, I have searched the forum and am now very much intrigued by your shot Scott. Especially when someone posting the same stuff (taken from a 1D - so still full frame) only produced a 'normal' vignetting. Looks to me like your lense had some sort of different mount or something.

One of the other guys posted shots show a square shape with the hood on, the others are a typical round vignette.

Hmm, here's the link (for anyone who is interested)

Bizarre.

See above post link and explain again. Perhaps not using a DC lense in the above post? Was the MKII N full frame?

The 1D is a 1.3 crop sensor, so not full frame.

Try it on the a 1Ds or a 5D :)

Right, mind is made up, next ultra-wide purchase is a 16-35 then.

That clears that up then, I figured it must have been, otherwise I couldn't see why the problem was that severe.

Thank you Sir Moppie.

Now get back to work.

Paul at Progear told me that is an excellent lens, expensive though. I have to get that one for my 5D to replace the 10-22.

Is there some loose plan to look for big waves on Saturday ? I was planning on heading out to KareKare or Piha mid-afternoon for high tide.

PM sent.

<pointless rambling mode on>

I never understood the need for posts like that......I mean, if you sent them a PM they should get it, and therefore know that you have sent it, right? :rolleyes:

Or is it that you feel the need to tell the rest of us that you have sent a PM? Are you trying to make us feel left out?

oh....:cry::cry:....please send me a PM too, I'm so sad and alone:mad:.....wah....<toys thrown out of the cot> :o
...............

<normal service will now resume>

So what has everyone got planned for the weekend? I'm going to see Dark Knight:D <insert random photography related coment here>(I'm going to see it out of interest in the cinematography of course.)

Hi Phil, just looking at your work on flikr, some nice photos there. Do you meetup with other Auckland photographers? I saw a nzfm group.
