Civil Defence Warning
WHAT TO DO

Before the storm hits Civil Defence has asked Aucklanders to do the following before the storm hits:

- Check your drains and spouting to make sure they are clear of blockages;

- Pick up rubbish around your house that could become airborne;

- Bring rubbish bins indoors;

- Bring pets inside;

- Boaties are recommended to check their moorings;

- Check on your next door neighbours.

- Bring in all Canon 5d's from door steps...

If the storm hits Civil Defence recommends:

- People stay at home, do not travel unless absolutely necessary;

- Open a window on the side of the building away from the wind. This will relieve pressure on the roof and help prevent it lifting;

- Close all curtains to slow down flying glass and airborne objects;

- Stay away from doors and windows. If the wind becomes destructive, shelter further inside the house.

Is there some loose plan to look for big waves on Saturday ? I was planning on heading out to KareKare or Piha mid-afternoon for high tide.

according to the met service there is a subtropical cyclone scheduled to hit north nz tomorrow morning... storm surges, wind, tons of rain and huge waves (if you can actually see them through all the other stuff)

(EDIT) bah shrimper beat me to it :lol:)

driving home just before i saw one of those arc thingies all around the sun - whats the technical term for those? looked cool anyhow, like a faded rainbow.

found it: it was an ice halo: http://www.atoptics.co.uk/halosim.htm (external link)

I never understood the need for posts like that......I mean, if you sent them a PM they should get it, and therefore know that you have sent it, right? :rolleyes:

Or is it that you feel the need to tell the rest of us that you have sent a PM? Are you trying to make us feel left out?

oh....:cry::cry:....please send me a PM too, I'm so sad and alone:mad:.....wah....<toys thrown out of the cot> :o

You bloody boy racers.....I don't know. More money in them there cars than....ah, well, um, something that normally has a lot of money put into it.

I hope it actually makes your car work more efficiently and that you don't cause more noise and air pollution..... Actually, screw that, as long as it makes it evens faster!

Then you can beat me in my crappy L300 to the next set of lights 100m down the road, cool!

Eagerly awaiting photos of said items mounted in said ride.

Hi Kirst. Sounds like you will be flitting all around me but not actually getting to Munich. Grrrr:evil:

Hahahahah Good one. (Or is it)

Bit of bling bling. Not my world. If it goes & looks 1/2 ok then that's enough for me. Not enough $$ to throw at the car. Actually I need to spend some money on my house.. but can't afford it.

Reason behind it also is that it needed all this to pass a warrant... :S so not just a random spend..

A bunch of Canon bits and pieces.
