Now
that's what I call a grad filter.....
Pretty impressive Cliff, looks very close to a Lee setup.

A lot. To get the holder, 77mm adapter and one filter, cost me 415 bucks including GST. (ordered in through Apix)
I think the filters are around $120 by themselves. Bloody big thick things.
Absolutely no vignetting on my 10-20 - which is what I'm wanting. Cool.
If we head out tomorrow, (if it's OK with you) I might take a shot with your 1DS and see if any vignetting is present. I suspect there will be.
Cliff
Be interested to see what that looks like too.

opinions please guys/gals!
i have just over $1K to play around with shortly for some toys.
i want to get a macro lens (have condisered getting extension tubes = cheaper) and found a reasonable price for a brand new 100mm USM. I also want to upgrade my walk around lens (my main lens) and replace the 17-85mm. have looked at the 17-55mm and with the trade in, it should post no problems in affordability :P
which one of these lens should I go for?!? hmmmm...
somethingsimple wrote in post #5978985
17-55 f/2.8 IS plus extension tubes with 50mm f/1.8 will solve both those requirements - and the extn tubes + 50mm will only set you back about $200 so you should be able to get both - or if you get extn tubes which are ef/ef-s you can use them directly on the 17-55 lens
She's right. That said I don't particularly see a 17-55 being the most natural choice to use ext. tubes on.

Paul at Progear told me that is an excellent lens, expensive though. I have to get that one for my 5D to replace the 10-22.
Or just buy the 17-40?

but if they don't it's user error and you are an idiot and have to RTFM.

Today should be interesting, just checking the Herald site.
"Waitakere Civil Defence manager Bill Morley hoped people would use common sense.
He said driving would be treacherous and coastal areas such as Piha and Karekare were expecting huge seas.
"If the weather hits us as is predicted people should only go outdoors if they absolutely have to," he said."
Should hit around lunch time.

I bet there'll be some idiot who will not pay attention and we'll hear about it on the news...
Am I missing something here? it's not exactly unheard of to see storms in the UK hit hose wind speeds but in mph not kph. Where's the fuss in a 60mph wind? Or is it literally just down to NZ houses being built like shoeboxes?

*still doesn't see what's so serious about the weather*
Been for a walk round Welly this afternoon with Bob's sister. Bit cool and grey, but lovely really.
