In general terms I agree, but unfortunately some of the aviation websites I upload to don't agree. I'd rather have a little bit of fence in the way and have the photo accepted onto Jetphotos than get a rejection for the aircraft not being centred. Then again, it just depends on how you intend to use the photo. The fence isn't all that attractive, I have to agree! Paul And that, in a nutshell, is why those photo websites as mentioned above, would not know what a good photograph is, even if it slapped them silly in the face. 7D, 5D MKIII, 17-40 f/4L, 24-70 f/2.8L, 70-200 f/2.8L IS, 300 f/2.8L IS, 500 f/4L IS, 1.4xII, 2.0xII

I've had many an argument as to whether the artistic merits of a photo are more important than it having an absolute level of technical 'correctness' but I think shooting aviation and uploading to those sites is a very good way to get many technical aspects of photography right. I probably spend roughly half my time shooting aviation on digital and the other half shooting other, more scenic things on digital and film. It's nice to have a balance and I find the technical aspects help the artistic and vice versa, but everyone's an individual and has different ideas. I know if I hadn't started shooting aviation early on and getting rejections from various sites I wouldn't know as much as I do now. I just hope that knowledge helps me in other areas!
