I switch the camera off and back on...it was dead.  I almost started to panic, but held it in until I tried the battery removal trick. That helped reset what ever was wrong and the 40D has been acting normal since.Hmm. Yesterday I got the dreaded err-01 on my 40D with the tammy. Power-cycling the camera seemed to do the trick.
