After the discussion I chose to go with Exposure Manager. And a little girl from the team has them on her myspace. I was shocked cause i did put the right click protector on there and the water mark. So I was shocked that they got the photo's. My parents really like the photo's and I do get a lot of pix surfing but no orders yet. One parent asked me about having to get the photo's sent to them instead of me just printing them and bringing them to practice. Its was actually the same mom. so I dont know... The pix are to be used to raise funds for my ball team. We are an aau team. Anyways... Waht else can i do or what do you guys think.. I mean watermark and all is there.

if it has watermark, it shouldn't be that big of a deal, I mean, it's free advertising for you.

the right click protector is only a deterent, it doesn't stop ppl from getting your images, they are stored in the browsers cache.

however, the quality is low, so there won't be any decent prints on there.

advice the parents on the price for a low res, med resolution and full resolution electronic copy, and ask them what kind of licensing agreements they are looking for. Include print prices purchased directly from your website at the end of that,

Also most programs can do a screen capture which defeats the right click anyways. <ctrl> + <Print Screen> will copy the screen to the clip board which can be opened in any graphics program. I suggest mentioning it to the mom, she may not realize the severity of the crime if she is not in the business.

Good Luck!

If you sent the mom the pics then that is obviously where the kid got them from.

When I found out that players were using my shots on their web pages (My Space, Face Book) I made an announcement at a banquet that if they email me the file name they want, I would supply it to them without the watermark. But in my case the parents had ordered prints throughout the season and I wanted to give something to the kids. The kids say they appreciated it and the parents think I'm very thoughtful. I don't feel that I lost any income. I would say that it was an offer that got the parents talking about me.

Many people have no idea about copyright law. I had a disappointed mom call me because no one would copy the back printed print I had sold her. I informed her that selling prints is how I make my living. She did order more but obviously had no clue......

I see my pics on myspaces and avatars all the time - stolen of course, with big watermarks right in the middle. One kid I know very well even had the caption "I steal photos" under it on his myspace. You're not going to stop it, they can do a screen grab or read the html code and find the deep root link if they know what to look for, tons of ways. At first I was kinda pi$$ed but then just realized - who cares as long as they're not printing them. Most times the parents buy them anyways so there kids likin it enough to advertise for me is no big deal.

Don't get all wound up about this kind of non-commercial private use.

It is normal.

If you bother them about it, they'll just think you're an a*shole.

I agree. Most people get upset over this because all we hear is that you should never give anything away. You need to be reasonable.

I covered a fund raiser for the Make A Wish Foundation and told them that could have any images they want for marketing. Two images were used on the front page of a newspaper with proper credit to me. After the article ran I had an increase in traffic on my site and the Foundation says that they will recommend me to others. I feel it was well worth "giving the files away"

This is the key to your statement. It just seems wrong to put a watermark on your photos to discourage non authorized use of your photos. If I had my bike sitting in a bike rack I would hope no one would take it and use it just because it was there.

Ah the Right Click deterent so you click on File-Download As..... Waste of time putting it on a site. I would be pleased to see my images being used. Ok if you do this to make a living then it might be different but the only security is not to post pics.
