Some pics from a Rugby League (NRL) game at Manly Australia.

using 70-200 2.8L + 2x conv.

Manly v Souths Sydney. For the USA people Russel Crowe owns the South Sydney club. But they aren't very good. They haven't won a game yet over the first 4 rounds. Manly won 20-2

If anyone is interested I have many more on my www.byronimages.net (external link) site

Good series of shots, nice mixture of action/static images.
3rd cheerleader and first player would be my pick.

Concentrate on equipment and you'll take technically good photographs. Concentrate on seeing the light's magic colours and your images will stir the soul. - Jack Dykinga

I was on the sideline, shots would vary from 10m to 50metres away.

I tried to shoot with speeds greater 1/800th sec. So some of the ISO crept up to iso1600 in the afternoon when the ground got covered in shadow. I was actually quite happy with the results. I can only get better I guess.

Heres a few more from the game.

I'd have to agree. They look good but maybe just need a little different sharpening routine. Definitely not oof, just a touch soft.
