Last weekend, i covered a show and, for the heck of it, brought my 5D, 70-200mm f/2.8, and 50mm f/1.4. I shot in JPEG because RAW and my mac still have some compatabilty issues and, what's more, didn't think this would be a big deal at all. However, I posted some to facebook, people liked them, and someone offered to buy a print of this one. I'll show you the original, the cropped (the one one facebook is cropped), and one that's further cropped that I though would be better.

No one likes this picture, except for the girl that's in it. And hey, I like it too, but that's because I like photographs.

f: 2.8
Shutter: 1/100
ISO: 800
Focal Length: 130mm.
Size: 12.3mp

The Third:

My overall question is, the first is the image I started with, the second is the one that I posted. There are plenty of other posts where we can talk about how the composition is weak. The question here is, "How do I fix this?"

My 2 min try. I'm assuming you wanted to change the color cast...?

Right - I didn't have any control over the lighting. 1100 person auditorium, shot from 70 feet away, with no flash permitted. The color cast is what I wanted to change, but without making it look washed out.

Here is my quick shot at it.
I am not offended by theater lighting. I have shot a fair number of shows.

Here's my 5-minute take.

Changed the color balance, some levels play, a little saturation play with some contrast added.

I am not really a fan of the photo because of the cropping, even the original, the angle is off.
Having said that, I like the B&W for her..
