I started this one and got to here, I feel it is too plain but just didnt know where to go with it? Any ideas?

P.S - The black border is not part of the original poster, it is just there to make it stand out a little.

I like the action shot in the corner... I think it's more flattering
to the subject... have you considered making that the main image?

Rob,

I like the second one better. I can't say that I care for the blue gradient in the text. Even though the player has the blue hat, it just seems out of place. It may be because of the border. Maybe try a different color or lighten it up a little. Also, the background photo looks just slightly tilted to the right.
