First I suggest you read the Forum's TC FAQ https://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=41922.

If you take the time to do that you'll see a note that Canon EF Mark II teleconvertors don't fit the Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 EX lens... The older Canon Mark I TCs did.

Second, I suggest you stop listening to these idiots on the forum who are chanting "Canon, Canon, Canon" and recommending that you buy a TC that won't work with the lens you are intending to buy...

The Kenko Pros and the Sigma's both review well.

Agreed.

I was wondering how long this thread was going to continue before someone mentioned the TC FAQ. Some members of this forum have to gone to a serious amount of effort to put these resources on here for us. If people would just have a quick look everytime they have an enquiry.......

I have 1.4x TCs from Canon, Kenko and Sigma and frankly see little if any IQ difference between them. Kenko has the benefit of working with all lenses since it has no protruding element, Canon has the benefit of weather sealing. The Sigma I've kept just because it has a narrower protruding lens element compared to the Canon TC and therefor works with Canon's 100/2.8 Macro USM lens.

I tend to use the Canon TC on my long lenses and/or 70-200 when using my lenses in bad weather, both Canon and Kenko when using two lenses (loike a 300 and 70-200 for motor sports) and the Sigma for the macro lens.
Generally speaking buy the one that fits your needs, wants or budget, there's no practical difference in image quality.

As to 2x TCs, I own the Canon and have tried the Sigma, and I try to stay away from them as they do hurt image quality too much for my liking.

Also, if you want to save even more money, order your Kenko Pro 1.4x on eBay from one of the Hong Kong vendors and you'll get it in 2 weeks for $100. That's how I got mine, and it's been great!

I've only used a sigma and canon TCs. Never even seen a Kenko before so no comment there.

Tamron SP AF 1.4X TC (white model) works with all lenses..It has 8 electrical contacts or pins so all lens functions are preserved..Image quality is every bit as good as the Canon equivalent and heaps cheaper..

I've owned mine for a few years and couldn't be happier..

I have a pal that has the Sigma 120-300 and swears by the Sigma 1.4x & 2x. Mind you, he shots Noink so he may be a bit insane. LOL
