What really is the right hood for the EF 70-210mm f/4?

I recently purchased the EF 70-210mm f/4 and it is pretty good. I'd like to get the hood for this lens and most of the online charts say it uses the ET-62 or the ET-62 II (same as for the EF 100-300 f/5.6 L)

I have tried both of those hoods, neither fit. The mounting area is too large in diameter on the lens for those. Anyone know what the correct original hood was?

Thanks

Maybe ET- 65II? It is for Canon EF 70-210mm f/3.5-4.5 USM. Or generic screw-on hood.

From a quick look around from a couple of forums it seems that it doesn't have a mount for a hood on it, though this does seem somewhat strange. Might have to go with a 58mm screw in one.

Tried this - The ET-65 II definitely will NOT work. I wound up kludging it together with the hood for a Sigma 18-50 DC which happens to have a snap-on fit when the rubber ring on the 70-210 f4 is removed.

The correct hood is the same hood used for the 100-300 f5.6L, the ET-62. Unfortunately its getting hard to find, but it looks like Ace Photo (external link) has some.

I have an ET-62 hood here. You were right. The hood mount is underneath of the rubber ring. I didn't realize that the ring was removable. Actually a rubber ring is a good idea when there isn't a hood.
