In order to assist me in ordering a new tripod, would owners of any of the following Giottos and Velbon tripod leg sets please measure the actual maximum height of their tripod, with the centre column fully lowered. I have found the stats listed on manufacturer's and dealer's web sites to often be varied and thereore inaccurate, and I do not want to buy another set of legs that I have to bend over to use. Velbon's web site claimed my Velbon Sherpa 600R was supposed to measure 140 centimetres and it actually measures almost 15 centimetres less! Using my chosen ball head and camera body, I need a tripod height, without centre column raised, of 139.6 centimetres or 55 inches.

Please feel free to message me privately or answer on the forum, as per your wish.

1. Giottos MT 8361 (Giottos web site claims 143 centimetres)
2. Giottos MT 7371 (Giotto's Europe claims approximately 147 centimetres)
3. Velbon 730 (Velbon claims 154.5 centimetres on their web site, Adorama claims 152.5 centimetres)
4. Velbon 630 (I have been told 136 centimetres on this one, Adorama claims 141 cm, Velbon says both 132.5 or 134.5 centimetres on their web site)

Thanks!

Maxdave
