A couple of years ago, Adobe announced DNG, telling us that it was open, non-proprietary and would be wonderfully supported.

Yet over a year after the introduction of Vista, they haven't bothered shipping a codec for DNG.

Are they just abandoning the format already?

The problem with Micsoft is they don't play nice with compainies that have orginal ideas. The only way DNG will ever be use by Microsoft is if they buy Adobe. I sure hope that never happens.

CSx/Bridge/Lightroom see DNG. So you want Explorer to see them too?

use this then:

or

You could write your own:

Better yet ADOBE could write one since well, they seem to know the DNG format better than Microsoft. But that might require effort on Adobe's part.

people will always try to stop you doing the right thing if it is unconventional
Full frame and some primes.
