I'm not sure if this is the correct thread to post this in, so mods, please move if needed?
Has anyone in the Toronto ON area ever gone to the Photographic & Digital Imaging Show? This year it is May 2,3,4 at the International Centre in Mississauga.
I've never been to it and was just wondering if it was worth a 2 hour drive to go to?
I think it is organized by Henrys, but was wondering if there are/were displays by any of the major manufacturers there as well.

On a second note, if anyone is interested, I have 8 extra complimentary passes for the show i'd be more than happy to disperse of (i was in Henrys with some buddies, we each got a pair, and i ended up with all of them). I'll gladly invest in a few stamps and send them out in pairs to the first 4 individual PM's I receive (no charge, no catch, I just hate seeing these go to waste if they can be used... maybe there are a million of them and nobody needs them, i don't know).
All I ask is you post a "PM sent" on this thread so i don't have to do a bunch of "sorry they are all gone" return PM's.
Greg

I went to the last one, and some of the workshops were pretty cool. It's nice to learn some stuff, but not mind-blowing, and you certainly won't find any epic deals for gear purchases. I get access to loads of free tickets every year too, but have never had a use for all of them .

If it's organized by henry's... I am not too keen on going just because of that fact alone.

Maybe if I'm really bored.

I go to the ones they have held in Ottawa and it's about a 45 minute drive for me. There are booths from most of the major manufacturers (whose products Henry's sells) and they do have some deals at the show. One thing I do is take either a body or memory card & shoot samples with bodies or lenses I want to try (they make you register what you bring in equipment so make sure you do or it may cause problems when you leave). To me I enjoy going and there are always big crowds even on a Friday afternoon.

Appreciate the input.
I'm mostly interested in going to play with some of the longer glass that the local shops rarely have behind the counter, and may sit in on a seminar or 2 depending what's on when i'm there.
Sounds like Canon should have a booth, so hopefully their full lens lineup is there to actually get a hands on heft for.
Not sure i'd pay the $15 they are advertising as the admission fee, but I can't ask for a discount on free.
Thanks again for the feedback.

Just drop by their store, they're giving the invites away... at least they did last year.

I didn't even ask for it, didn't buy anything and got two tickets.

If they have your email address on file they send you a pdf to print your own tickets, or as suggested pick them up at a store. The ticket is for the full event, not just 1 day. Canon had a booth at the Ottawa show & I shot the 1Dmklll as well as a few of the more expensive lenses, plus tried some Olympus cameras (was in the market for a new underwater camera & Olympus has some decent housings for their DSLRs).
