I had the delema of getting the 4GB microdrive for $200 of a portable storage unit. Well, I realized that while my 20D will support the microdrive, my backup camera (D60) will not support cards that large. So I opted on giving the portable unit a shot since I have 30 days to return it. It really seems easy to use, it's fast, 40GB and works as a card reader as well. The problem is that even though it is a relativley new product (early 04'), it does not like windows XP. Funny how it says it inside the box in the paperwork but not on the outside. Anyway, it does say that if you must format it for use with XP download the driver from the website. I did that, but I still cannot format the drive as there is no instructions in the 2 page manual nor on the website. I wanted to call tech support, but guess what? Monday through Friday, 8AM-6PM only. Any ideas? It is a Meadiagear Flash HD to go 40GB...Dean

Hook up the drive and reboot. Click Start/Control/Panel/Administrative Tools/Computer Management

When there, select either Removable Storage or Disk Management and see if it shows up there.

Feel free and call me voice too. :)

Thanks JIM, it is recognizing the drive. It gives me drive letter "K". The problem is that it says "please insert drive" when I click on it. Basically it is there, just not formatted to XP.

:) Rock on Bro. Not a genius, just one of those been-there done-that deals.
