Wow, Toogy, looks you are on the same death spiral that I am. In the last two months I got very similar stuff.

Then I set up my wish list at B&H: Currently contains 10-22mm EF-S, 17-35mm Tamron, 70-200 f/2.8L IS, Tokina 17mm, 85mm f/1.8, 135 f/2L

Then, I started thinking how much better off I'd be with a 300mm f/2.8L, and I figure I better get my hands on a 200mm f/1.8 before there are no good ones left, so that is now one of my saved ebay searches. I actually bid on a flawless 200mm f/1.8, but thankfully someone outbid my meager $2500 bid on that one.

I guess we are all here because we are L-choholics, but instead of talking each other out of L-glass, we encourage it!!!!

Once you set the B&H URL as your browser homepage - you can't escape it anymore

Oh and I have also had thoughts about selling my 70-200F4 that I just got to get the 70-200 2.8L IS.

Does this ever end? Am I totally insane???????

God help me!

Toogy, you still have some sanity otherwise you would be trying to justify to yourself a pressing need to have a 70-200f4 AND a 2.8. They are, after all, very different lenses that suit different situations

Maybe you are afraid to ask because you know that the best lens is the 70-200 f2.8L IS and you need the 1.4x teleconverter as well to give you the extra reach. I know that is what I am currently saving for!

Mind you the Sigma 120-300 f2.8 EX is tempting, add the 1.4x teleconverter and voila - 420mm @ f4. I'll have to wait till after I get the 70-200 though, I need the weather sealing for the dusty rallies.

Of course for dusty rallies I also need a weather sealed body, the 1D MkII would be ideal for this.

Then there are other weather sealed lenses like the 24-70 f2.8L and the 17-40 f4L, these would nicely cover the wide angles.

Must stop, I'm starting to drool.

I started with an EOS 50 and the 75-300 along with the Tamron 28-80, I soon discovered a 400 f5.6 Sigma lens, then saw a 1N second hand (This is where the addiction started). Fell in love with the 1 series, bought some more lenses and then once my student loan arrived I wiped that out, along with my overdraft on a 1D with a 70-200 f2.8 L IS with a 1.4 TC.

Now, here I am, awaiting the arrival of an inheritance cheque and I'm weighing up getting a second hand 400mm f2.8 L or a new 300mm f2.8 L IS along with a 1D MkII!!!!

We can set up a board of big brothers (and sisters (Marie)) who will judge your photos monthly and then decide if you need better gear or not. You get a permission to buy or a notice to keep shooting with current gear.

Too bad this system would quickly give all the lousiest photographers the best cameras and the masters would use G1 :) :) :)

Toggy:

What don't you like about the Sigma 18-125? It might be the one I am considering buying to stop using the EF-S 17-55mm

I suggest getting a seperate credit card and call it "Just for Photographic Equipment Card" When you reach its limit you quit buying until you pay it down a bit

JZ

Or you could just buy one ea. of everything Canon makes and be done with it once and for all,.............. this year .. :D

Well at 18mm it seemed really soft and had really bad vignetting. Other than that it wasn't terrible. I just really wanted a constant aperture zoom lens.

It makes me laugh when you Americans complain about prices! If I was in US I'd save a good $1800 on a my next purchase!

Agree with you Pete, we are very fortunate price wise, but the problem is not the price, its the addiction of having the best one can afford, or not afford, whatever the case might be.
