Specifically, RF emissions. I don't know what it is called in the UK, but in the USA, it is called "FCC compliance, Type A or Type B."

I decided to go with the much cheaper wired remote. However, I bought the wired remote from Ebay. It is a third party version of Canon's remote and is made by Adidt, the same maker of the remote you are looking at. So far the remote works great. It feels a little lighter and cheaper than the Canon version, but it works for now until I look in to a wireless. I can't really speak on the FCC regulations, etc. that were mentioned above, but everything seems fine and "legit" to me.
