I've been watching the forums for awhile already, and with all these tasty photos and talks of wallet destroying equipment I've finally decided to jump on the band wagon and get the Canon XTi.

I'd like to say hello to everyone, and begin my contribution more to this community.

Weclome to the forum. Wallet destroying addiction is about the best description I have heard. Maybe POTN needs to be renames WDA. ;):)

he hasnt discovered L lenses so far... :P Then it will be sad !

The XTI is an amazing camera. You will learn alot and have a great time with with. You might want to explore the P mode, AV mode, and you need some glass (the 50mm 1.8 is cheap and has amazing image quality - the downside is the plastic body).

The 18-55 stock lens is not really good... I only use it for now because im unemployed and I need a wide angle.

Enjoy your XTi! I've had mine for almost a year and love it! I'd recommend the 50mm 1.8 as a nice compliment to your kit lense. Better start saving your pennies for those L lenses you'll be lusting after ;)

I'd suggest staying AWAY from the 50 1.8. It is becasue of that lens that I discovered what fast optics actually are and how they can benefit your photos. Once you realize how you must have fast optics in all your future lens purchases- it's all over.

Welcome to EOS ownership!

If you must know...

Welcome! I just got my Xti last November and my first piece of "L" glass via UPS today.... After 2 point and shoots and $1000.00 later I finally have what I can call an investment. No more upgrading the Camera and practically throwing it away. Now I can collect glass, get better as a photographer, and upgrade the body as my talents get better.

Lookout because your wallet will no longer be full! LOL!
