Right basically, I have a nice big fat paycheck coming on the 15th May.

Now, the 10-22 I currently have it borrowed and will have to go back by then, my plan was to buy the 17-55 then get the 10-22 now (but other things have got in the way! :() However since getting the 17-55 the 10-22 hasn't been on the camera. I know where i'd use one its just the "Is it worth it for those 10 or 20 or 30 shots every week". I would say so...

So then I could get the tamron 10-17 fisheye as its even wider (thats what I want!) but im not sure of the quality (will go have a looky at the archive thread).

About 2 weeks ago I had two events where a 70-200 F4 L IS and its suuuper fast AF and suuuuuper sharpness would have so kicked ass. So now I want to replace my 70-200 with one of them and a 1.4x TC. I'd have to sell the 70-300 to raise the funds but I'd 100% be able to do it.

Now my 70-300 is quite sharp, but only if the AF is spot on otherwise its average which is a shame at 300mm, 70mm is pretty much always sharp (within reasonable focus!).

But its AF can be lacking and really stiffles the 40Ds 6.5FPS and kick ass AI Servo (I've come from a 350D :p)

The plan for longer reach is a 300mm F4 is + 1.4x TC or a 400mm but thats later in the year, 280mm with sharpness will be enough to allow me to crop...

So kings and queens of photography, what should I do?

Cheers :)

I'm confused, what is the question? Do you already own the lenses in your gear list or not?

I own the ones in black *except* for the 10-22 which is borrowed and will be going back soon.

The question is, in May do I get the 10-22 or 10-17 or 70-200 F4L IS.

lol,

well., when u choose between lenses that have completely different application, I'm talking about wide angle vs. telephoto issue - u should sit down and think what u want to shoot. thats about it :) how can we give u suggestion or help u choose between 70-200 and 10-22??? its ur preference style of photography or whatever u do that should determine what u want to get.

Well its exactly that. I do both.

I suppose im more asking is if the 70-200 + 1.4x TC really worth £400 over the 70-300?

Concorde Rules
I would say go for the range that u don't have, u can always replace that 70-300 later...

Go with the non-is and get both lens. 70-200mm f4L non is ~$550. 10-22mm ~$650. 550+650=$1200.

Considering the thread was started in 2008, I think the OP has made his decision ;)
