I would like to know what would be the ideally angle for a semitruck cab that caught fire a long time ago and it's a derelic just rusting away and I'm going to night to shoot it around 5pm-ish or so and I want to get a few good shots.

I'm planing on shooting in monocrome. and should I bring a tripod or be the tripod so speak?

And I will be using M mode and ai servo :)

If shooting in B&W, I would at least set your camera to record RAW & JPG, this way you have a color file if you decide B&W isn't great (I would think you would want to see rust and textures in color).

Sure, can't hurt bringing a tripod.

Why AI Servo?

Not sure why the ai servo I've heard many people say to use it in many posts I've been reading on this forum.

Any hoo my focus seems to be messed up or I just haven't learned my camera that well yet.

AI Servo is best when your subject is moving.

I was thinking this.

1/60 - 1/125 shutter speed.
Iso about 100 - 400 ( possible 600 - 800 if cloudy all day today )
Tripod

Simga 70-300 just incase I can't walk on the property.

Definitely use a tripod. You may get better results to shoot in color and convert it with software. It will give you greater control over tones and if you ever decide you need a color version of it, you have it.

Hey thanks Mike, I use photoshop I've purchased on ebay a long time ago and I can use the effect like polorise to turn it black and white.

Any more tips?

Look in the RAW & PP Stickys for hints on conversion.

IMO, if you can get the sun low behind it, with a decent DOF, and a low camera angle, it will add to the hulking look. Tripod, so you can tweak the shots til you get it right. One shot focus, not AI servo.

shooting club VB and club soccer, hoping to get back to landscape work soon.
