I tried the johnstone people in Glasgow for a simple sensor clean, why? because i did what you have done, they promised me it was a 24hr turn-around i had to phone them daily and it came back after a week just as bad, after a phone call to complain they did apologise and asked me to send it back which i did. it took a week to come back and it was just as bad and had dust between the back screen and LCD! I ended up going back to the people i purchased the camera from (warehouse express) who were excellent, they sent it to Canon Elstree and problem solved.

I've never needed to (touch wood) but Lehmann's have been recommended on here previously.

I used Colchester Camera for a dusty 17-85 lens, the lens came back after 10 days with more dusts!

I just used Fixation Uk for my rattling 580EX II. Before sending my flash, I went to Jessops and John Lewis and tried their 580EX II's. They don't rattle, I called Canon and I was told it shouldn't rattle so sent it to Fixation, after 5 days, flash came back. There was a note that they opened up the flash and found nothing that's loose. Also according to them they compared it to other flash (though they never mentioned if its the same flash as mine) and they said rattle was normal.

I think they are all the same!

PS
It was abvious that the flash was opened because the screws and flash body was scratched.

Rant off.....

Not in my case, though they sound friendly and professional on the phone.

I forgot to say I also used the main Canon service centre in London (forgot the name) for the 17-85 lens and they got rid of the dust. But the turn around time was about 1 month.

That lens according to other people, is a dust magnet! Good luck!

Thanks for cheering me up....

Even though it gets slated the lens is nice and light and I am enjoying it to get aquainted with the 40D :)

Sorry for my very direct comment but no offense intended. Its really a mixed bag. Some people like the lens, some don't (that's what I read from forums).
I happen to be one of the latter.

Yes, 40D... I'm really drooling for one but I just ordered a 100 macro. SO not for now.
