I received my new G9 today, pictures look great. The first one took bad and very noise pictures. Called Canon repair center and was told to return the camera to dealer. Glad I did, looks like the first was a lemon.

Even canon can have a bad apple in the basket.

I understand that G9's are coming from both Japan and China and that Chine doesn't have the QC that Japan has had for years with camera products.

It would be interesting to know what you sent back and what you received.

Hi chaps - I have had my G9 for a couple of weeks and am really pleased with it but yes, at 80 ISO things are pretty good - but noise is really a worry after that. I'm pretty sure my camera is OK but what made the OP (Ricko) send his back ... is it possible to do a test that confirms that the G9 is performing as it should do or that it is a noisy one ? I bought it from an excellent store, who will not argue if there's a problem, but they are not specialist photography retailers and therefore may not have personnel qualified in evaluating this problem. Any advice very welcome - regards Roger

I'm now on my second G9: first one was replaced after 2 days. Both are made in Japan, neither works right. I'm hesitating between returning it and to keep it as a second camera to use when going for a stroll in sunny afternoon (only at these conditions the photos are acceptable).
I'd love to see comparison between the lemon and the good camera as well, if you can do it :)
