Yes thats geek.

I ran the upgrade advisor as you suggested and I need to correct a few things before trying to upgrade to upgrade. One thing is I need to make my c parition bigger it is only 30 gb with 14.55 or something gb free but vista needs 15 gb free. Hmmm. And there are a few programs installed that is reported as inkompatible.

Those programs might well become inoperable and non-uninstallable. I had that problem with XPlay (a superior alternative to iTunes for iPods).

Looks like you'll probably need to uninstall or delete some stuff to get it on there.

I've gone Geek.

I'm installing Vista on my Mac. It's sitting on an external hard drive. All this effort just to make sure that my Zune still works...

I have been trying to avoid putting windows on my mac for so long now. You can run it from an external harddrive? I have a 120GB WD that I would use if I could.

Being Turkish.... I have eaten so much of this stuff. Every time family visits from Turkey we end up with a whole bunch of boxes in my house. lol. Now what you all need to try is Pismaniye and some baklava....

I use a program called "Parallels". You build an image containing the operating system and then you can copy that to your external HD and it runs just fine there. Even has internet access in there as well and share your Mac drive (and share the windows content from the Mac too).

I was going to look into the difference between parallels and bootcamp. I still haven't got a chance. I suppose I will wait until I have no choice but to use windows because of a application. Lets hope it never happens though! lol

Don't forget that you'll need a legal copy of Windows in order to install it.

Parallels is probably the better of the two.

From what I understand, Parallels is a Virtual Machine that you can switch to while the computer is running. Bootcamp is simply a bootloader that lets you dual boot between OSX and windows when you start up the computer.

It could have changed, but I believe that was what it was when they first switched to Intel...

Permie, all tripod stuff is still on sale at Pro Photo. For me, a trip to Pro Photo and Fry's ( with money to spend ) would be an awesome birthday!

Yea. I believe you have to shut your computer down with bootcamp to start running windows. I am not sure. It is a lot of reading I am not looking forward too. I am just happy that OSX works... lol

Local camera store here, doesn't sell online as far as I know.

B&H has some rebate deals on Manfrotto kits that might be worth looking into.

okay I've got a plan since Dan refuses to say what he wants to do this evening. He's getting off early so I thought I'd take him to pro photo to see if there's anything he wants to spend his bday money on (me driving...he hates to drive in portland) then to Chili's just south of Portland for dinner and top the evening off at Fry's (guy heaven).

Does this sound like guy fun?

ooh, the Chili's there in Lake Oswego/Tigard off of Kruse Way? Been there before - it was good.

And there is also VM Ware Fusion - Yoda used that and really liked it for running Windows inside of OS X.

So I took my history final this morning. Worth 100 points + 2 extra credit points.

I got the score back this afternoon (they have a lot of help in the history department)

101.5!

OH YEAH!

Damn. I just got an email from the photographer I was on the motorsport workshop with this weekend and he got 2-3 spots available for assistants on several races over the summer. Very tempting to jump on one of them.

(its non-paid so shhhhh don't tell anybodu in the business forum)

Sounds like a very fun opportunity. Hope it works out for you!

Time for a train.

The local fish wrap is advertising a feature on trains coming up. No idea what they've got planned, but I'll see if I can provide a linky if they come up with anything interesting.

WOW!!! I usually just find myself in the driver's seat. :(

Sounds like a decent plan. The Fry's down there isn't themed, is it? There used to be one near where I lived in California that was themed like a '50s Alien invasion movie, complete with UFO crashed into the outside.

Well of course you can't get it in Oregon; deserts are dry and frequently sandy. I'm surprised there's anywhere like that in Seattle . . .

I'll have you know there are lots of times without rain here in Seattle. None that I can recall at the moment, but I'm sure that I could find some given the time. ;)
