OK...thanks....strange looking stuff...looks almost like it could be a type of pipe...but then again...it looks like it could be a solid shaft.

and here's one for the group :)

Dan, that is a sold shaft. if you have a look at the back of the photo there is a ring, there is in fact 2 of them, me and somebody else tried to move them. every hard as they are very heavy.

the walk way used to be a small railway for them to carry the rocks from inside the mine to the processing area. the left of the photo is where we had come from, and that's the mine. to the right of that photos are some large holes in the ground, which they used to get the gold out of the mine.

that parts in that photo looked like the type of shaft you would find in a car that transfers the energy from the engine to the wheels. esp if it's a rear wheel drive car.

Moo....hehehe

They looked sort of like a drive shaft in the image...but they also looked like they could be pipe. They are interesting looking anyway...and I sure would be curious to know what they were originally used for.

GAH!!!

It's 2:30am. I've been up since 12:30, and can't get back to sleep. The alarm is set for 4:30, and I know if I lay down now, I won't fall asleep till 4:20. Then, I'll wake up tired, and be groggy all day.

It isn't good to start out on a 500 mile trip already tired.

I wish I had some of Claire's abilities right now. That kid seems able to sleep anywhere, anytime.

Lucky girl.

That's not really nice chief!

I hope you still manage to get a bit of sleep...

Thanks. It was pretty easy.

You didn't miss much, if anything at all.

Yesterday was Dan's birthday, and he got a new Wacom tablet. That's pretty exciting.

wow that is exciting. nothing like new toys to play with. Not to sure if I said it but Happy Birthday Dan.

I did today get to use Tony (weka2000) new camera for a couple of minutes today. I loved it and I would love to own it. however at 12k I don't think so.

unless I can find someone rich to marry.

I did find it easy to start using the camera. the real question I had was how to change from AV to TV etc. Well the mode button is easy to find :)

oh well I will keep dreaming.

This afternoon I put the full set of tubes on my 724IS and shot a couple dozen teeny little flowers... hand held. I got some beautiful color, great bokeh, and some nice compositions, but not one of them was in focus. It sure doesn't take much to miss the target... a gentle breeze, breathing, inability to stand totally still.

That happens to me too... usually mine ends up being due to a breeze...
