Over the last three weeks I've seen this happen. Can you guys or gals shed some light on what possibly could cause this?

Try another card?

Could be card, cable or camera. RAW or JPEG? Try a different reader, cable and port and re-download. Change cards and see if it happens, too.

I purchased a new RiData 16B 233x CF Card and been using that for my last 4 photo sessions. I shoot in RAW and format after each shoot.

Got to troubleshoot to try to isolate the problem. Did it only happen with new card? Does it happen with RAW and jpg? Does it happen with in-camera viewing? Do you format card in-camera?

If happening with multiple cards and visible on the LCD review then I'd say camera problem.

Does that mean 16 bit?

My last 4 photo shoots I've only used 16gb RiData but never seen the problem with any of my other cf cards. Do not know if this occurs with jpg because I only shoot RAW. At the beginning of my shoot I nail down my settings and exposure, then I rarely look at my LCD. After I download the RAW files and make sure to create backups, then I format the cf card in camera.

If you are having trouble with it, try a 4 GB of less card and then the 16 GB. Best thing to do is find out before the next important shoot.

I get that that's your normal practice, but when troubleshooting you need to isolate. Really sounds like it's the card - stick another card in and find out, try jpg + RAW and looking at LCD for the point of isolating.

I forgot. Which camera are you using?

OH, 16 Gb -

There ya go. Depending on the source, I have read that Canons do/do not support cards greater than 8Gb is size.

If you are having problems with the 16Gb card, and not the others - then I think you have your answer.

That's what I was thinking, that's why I asked him which camera he was using.

I'll have to do that.

If I reload the 'corrupted' images back onto the cf card and stick the card back in my cam, would I be able to see it on the LCD?

Next time I will be more aware about keeping my eye on the LCD, but I'm shooting flag and tackle football. During a weekend I can shoot up to 5 games and a total of 2000 images.

Now you're talking about two different things:
1) What is the cause of the problem....likely the card but you still need to prove that with a different card.
2) Can you recover the images on your card. I'm not skilled in this area, my guess would be no if images corrupted but you'd probably need to search/ask to get a better answer. If you can see them normally on LCD it would mean the embedded small jpg survived at least.

I don't mean to suggest you routinely start chimping, but what you do when troubleshooting may be very different from normal practice...I don't usually shoot test target or batteries off a tripod with a remote shutter release, but I will if I'm trying to tell if a lens has an AF problem.

If you shoot RAW, the preview is actually an embedded JPEG, not the actual RAW. If the images on your computer have been corrupted (wherever they were), you won't be able to reverse the process by loading them back onto the card.

What you need to do:
1) shoot with one of your other cards and download normally. If the pictures show the same problem, the card is not at fault.
2) Download the pictures using a different USB port nd cable (if possible, a different reader, too). If the pictures are OK, but come through corrupted using your normal reader, cord and port, it's the reader, cable or port. Then test swapping just one of those components.
3) Use your card in a different camera. If the problem doesn't show up there, your camera is at fault.

Oh, and the latest 1D IIN firmware is 1.1.2. Are you running that? It provides >8GB support.
