A bigger bag

A few weeks ago I read somewhere here about a camera bag that had a spot for a laptop in it. Anyone remember which one it was? Sorry about posting this in ths forum but I think this is where I saw the post.

That one looks kool but I think the other one is a Pelican. I did a search for it and come up with nothing that holds a laptop..............

Lowepro and Tamrac both have a number of models, both shoulder bags and backpacks, that will take a laptop as well as your cameras/lenses. Adorama has advertised a Slinger for laptops, but I haven't seen much on it.

LowePro do the CompuTrekker as well. Very happy with mine if that is worth anything to anyone else.

I have the CompuTrekker, and I have to say it's one heck of a nice Camera bag. But, to me, the notebook side of things leaves a lot to be desired. First off, it seems it was made for an ultra compact notebook (like one of the new IBM Thinkpads, the Viaos, or the 12" Powerbook). My Dell Inspiron 2650 has a TOUGH time slidin down in there. It's not the heighth or the width that's the problem...but the depth. It's just SO narrow...my mid-thinkness Notebook barely slides in (matter of fact one of the looser rubber feet came off when I slid it in because it was so tight).

Secondly, unless you feel like completely losing some space in the camera area, then I'd say you'd proably just have to do w/out a power supply and mouse. The only place you could fit a power supply and mouse would be in one of the camera compartments up front.

Now, it'd probably work out REALLY well for an IBM Thinkpad T41, a couple of lenses (one always attached to the camera), a couple of filters, a flash, a power supply (for the notebook) and a mouse. But, that's about all you're probably gonna be able to get in there.

They don't lie. The bag can hold a good bit of camera gear and a notebook computer. There's no doubt about that. What they don't tell you is that they don't give you a designated area for your power supply or mouse. And, they make the notebook area very tight (camera area has a TON of room).

I'm not dissatisfied with the bag. I honestly haven't tried to pack everything in it. I guess for those trips where space really matters, you could pull it off. Now, for a plane trip where you don't mind leaving the power supply and mouse with your clothes, it's no big deal at all. But, if you plan to have a carry all, this will be a tight one.

Thanks to EVERYONE for all the help. I gave up on the "put the laptop in the same bag" idea. I just ordered the Pelican PESB 1550 from B & H. While I was there I figured that I better thro in a 1 gig cf card........just in case I don't have the laptop with me and I need to shoot more pics!!!!!! Now all I have to do is wait for that to get here, wait for the 100 - 400 to get here and rob the piggy bank so I can get a 10 - 22...............
