Hey guys,

I am looking for a little help, I have put together what i want, which is a simple, easy to navigate website.

However i am stuck on the galleries.. currently i have them listed at the bottom and spereated, however i was thinking i should just have "Photo Gallery" and mix say 20 of my best shots for all genre and mix it up.

I am not a pro, however i wish for people to start thinking of me as one so its time i start looking like one, and could really use the help.

I have it setup so i can change the main page image often.

Please let me know what you think.

Nice clean, fast-loading website. :)

I would suggest tightening the layout up vertically. Specifically there's a large empty gap between the home-page photo and the galleries section at the bottom. When I first brought the page up in a non-full-screen browser I didn't even see the galleries area.

If you want to emphasize the galleries, I'd suggest moving them above the home-page image.

I haven't gotten my galleries organized very well yet. They are currently per-event. I do have a representative collection of shots playing in the main-page slide show, so that somewhat covers the "best of" category.

I have a very similar kind of home-page (I don't have any "welcome text" yet, but I'm thinking of putting if off to the side just like you're doing):

Geofff,

How did you get the slideshow? Is it script or did you just use a GIF? i Was going to do a GIF as i could not find any clean slide show scripts.

It's a javascript program I got from: http://www.electricprism.com/aeron/slideshow/ (external link)
I seem to remember that it was pretty easy to get going, but it still took me a bit of experimentation to get it running the way I wanted (and it still has a bit of wonky behavior with the black border as it loads and starts the first time).

GIF would suck for a high-quality photo slide-show since it's limited to 256 colors.

Cheers,

Geoff S.

Geoff,

When I clicked this link, it set off all kinds of virus alerts - Kaspersky, Trend Micro - including our corporate virus scanner, identified it as containing virus "JS_AGENT.ACGB".

May be harmless, but if your site is identified as a threat then you're bound to lose visitors somewhere...

Whoa! Thanks for the info. I like the Javascript slideshow, but not that much! :o

I'll have to see what's up with that (and find an alternative).

Cheers,

Geoff S.

Whoa! Thanks for the info.

It turns out the slide-show javascript is not to blame, but rather hacking of my account/server.

Thanks again for pointing it out!

Cheers,

Geoff S.

Which one?

I'm currently using Porta/SimpleViewer for my new galleries, and Coppermine for some older/larger ones, and I'm always on the lookout for something new.

Cheers,
