I currently have a copy on photomatix pro and CS 3 on my laptop, and Im playing around with HDR images.

I just tried creating my first HDR image today and I came into a problem,

Is there a way to create a HDR image with CS 3, edit it(sharpen, levels, curves), save it as a 32 bit file, then transfer it to photomatix to do tone mapping?

Im aware theres a tonemapping plugin for CS3, But I have a copy of photomatix and I want to get around this

and on a side note, does anyone have a tutorial or website that explains tone mapping in further detail? I thought the user manual was very vague, Im interrested to know the major differences between details enhancer and tone compressor

This is the image I came up with btw, made w photomatix

I'm curious to know as well. I have to say your result looked better than my attempts :p but it looks like you could have done most of that pic in RAW processing, just by upping the fill light, and decreasing blue luminosity.

Exactly, Im trying to get that super futuristic contrasty look, and I think most of it has to do with proper tone mapping

No, i mean, you could do what you did above with just a single RAW in Lightroom, without having to superimpose with HDR.

(i.e. in my opinion, still a photo, and not a picture ;))
