Neck Strap Holder Supposed To Be Firm?

is that supposed to be completly firm, or is it supposed to have a little play? i can kinda jiggle it maybe 1/2mm in any direction. not a problem, just wondering if its supposed to be like that, or if its supposed to be completly firm and not move at all.

On a camera that old, I'd expect some play.

Now, go shoot the right picture.

My D60 bracket is solid... might pay to breeze past a repair centre sometime. Either that or remove the strap so's your pride & joy isn't reliant on not hitting the deck if it lets go.
Actually I had an AE-1 with the same problem about 15 years ago, and learned how the exposure control mechanism worked by string - the hard way. But I digress.....

well i took every thing apart and took out the broken screws...

the metal piece has another slotted side (just like the out side of it where you slide the strap through) and there is a flat metal piece extending down from the top part of the camera that goes through it...

so while it may have a little play, its never gonna go any where and is fine... no reason to pay canon 180 bucks so they can take the entire camera apart and put 2 new screws in...

good idea canon decided to put that metal bar in there also to keep the strap holder in place, or we would all be in trouble when those screws come loose.

Glad to hear you found the problem. Call Canon and have them send you the screws, then you can fix it yourself. Or hit up a shop that does Canon repairs and maybe they'll part with a couple of screws for ya.

does any one know if theres a way to just take off that top portion so i can put new screws in?

taking the front off and re assembling that lens mount was a ****.... took me like 2 hours to get it back together properly... i would prefer to not do that again.
