I want to take a pic of my Dog Jumping off my deck , but each time I do it's fuzzy. What would your settings be?

you need a faster shutter speed and panning could help also. I don't know anything about the G9 or what kind of control it gives you...

you need a fast shutter speed and maybe an increased ISO depending on the light conditions. The action or sports mode may work as well.

My wife has the G7 I will have to take a look at hers. Im sure some action sports can be taken, so long as you have the lighting. A flash may help as well, especially an external if you have one, thats what the hot shoe on top is for....

Turn the top wheel to the Tv setting. This will set the camera into shutter priority. Then play around with your shutter speed. Make sure it's at least above 1/80. To fully freeze a dog jumping mid-air, you may be looking more at around 1/250 or higher (Not positive, just an estimated guess). How high you need to set the ISO will depend on your lighting.

I thought I'd add another comment, because in hindsight the original "DSLR" comment may have sounded a bit flippant. On the other hand it's actually quite true.
The G9 is quite a nice camera, but in order to capture anything fast moving you're going to need good technique and a fair amount of luck as well. It's not impossible, but you can expect a lot of failures for every decent shot you get.

You genuinely would find it much easier with a DSLR. So to the OP Mx3, it's wasn't meant as an elitist comment, but more of selecting the right tool for the job. After all we're all photographers here.

no offense taken! Really!

I am getting so frustrated... Everyone at home said they love my pic's But I know my pic's could be MUCH better. I Got the G9 just a few mo. ago. Yes to the G9 I'm such a newbie! I thought I would be able to pick up and shoot.. (funny) I really did too!
I went to the Historic Batsto Village, I had my tele lens on shooting at a few swans in the lake, The pic's looked good but at home they are grainy. I'm all ?? kinds of ??

I thank you all for your input!

having playing with the G9 for sometime now, One of our members of my dive team bought one for underwater use, i can say buying a DSLR will not resolve this issue.

boost the ISO 400 and shoot at f2.8 which the camera can do and you will get the results you want.
