Hello all! I am going to a race next weekend, and I have never shot anything this fast, other then the Blue Angels.

What are the ideal shutter speeds for a Indy Oval race?

many factors..... How far you shooting from, what equipment (lens, body) you shooting with, hve any experience with fast panning?

Pay attention to the first few shots. Maybe start in TV mode and set the shutter speed to 1/250th see of you get any background call but subject is sharp. Move shutter speed up or down depending on your panning ability to blur the background and keep the subject in focus.

Shoot in AI Servo mode. I always shoot with center point only focus in AI servo mode. Depending on the lighting ISO 100-400 even higher if real cloudy.
Hope it helps a little.

Good luck, bamatt, and enjoy KC. It's always a great race!! Be sure to post some pictures here when you get back. Are you planning to make it to Indy or Iowa
