Im getting the 100mm in a few days. Thing is, i wont be getting any extension tubes immediatley.I will eventually but im worried that the shots without tubes/mega good lighting set up wont look very impressive. Someone cheer me up. (Also when i do, i'll go for the Kenko tubes). Thanks. :) Reason i ask is that i saw one of racketman's posts earlier saying that ET's were a good investment etc etc.

not essentail for larger subjects but Ladybirds and the like will not look impressive although you may get some great enviroment shots of course.

LOL Fear not. you can make breathtakingly impressive pictures with just the 100mm, and you do not NEED the ext tubes. in fact I would suggest getting used to the 100 without the tubes FIRST! then getting the tubes, and getting closer. (this comes from my research on POTN, not from personal experience) this is my plan. I am looking at early summer before I can get the lens, then maybe the fall before I can get the tubes.

Oh yeah... and btw. it is not the camera/gear that makes for a great shot... :D
