Okay, so I've my film gear left in another country, my lomo and zenit and other mechanical wonders :D but I got bored of my 30D, damn it... I hate digital :) plus we've got a darkroom at college, so I was thinking to get something nice.

Oh and I'd love to use my current EOS lenses. If not its not a big deal, I would go with old FD lenses with pleasure...

so I want something I can get for very cheap at ebay, with good reputation as a performer. + lens recommendation if ur not talking about canon body :D

thx!

In a word, no.

If you want something that works with your EOS lenses, Canon has a ton of old film bodies that are still floating around used for pretty cheap. Myself, I use an old A2 when I have the itch to shoot film.

If you're going "old school", my recommendation would be for something like an AE-1: there are tons of them around and they're usually dirt cheap. However, the shutter does develop a squeaking noise before it dies as the lubricant dries up. A CLA can fix that, but they're getting increasingly more expensive.

A Pentax K-1000 is also a pretty cheap way to go. They're solid as a rock and practically idiot proof.

If you can find an old Canon FTB, it'll work with your FD lenses, solid as a rock, and pretty much 100% mechanical (with the exception of the battery for the meter). Never any fear of any electronics "dying" on you. I still have mine, and it goes back to the early 1970's (probably older than you). :)

I believe you can still buy brand new Canon EOS 300X's. I've considered buying one myself to go with the 3000N. They both take any EF lens except EF-S.

If you want a second hand one, go to ebay and try "canon eos film" or find a model you like and search specifically for it. :)

Pentax K1000's tend to fetch good prices as photog students tend to buy them for college/uni courses.
The Canon AE-1/AE-1 Program's are good value and there are plenty of FD lenses around pretty cheap.

Manual Nikons tend also to fetch high prices as well - because they are old MF Nikons I suppose...

Or get an EOS30 (Elan 7E?) and use your EOS glass on it!

If you really want to go cheap, go for the Pentax Spotmatic. They use M42 screw mount lenses that can be used with EOS cameras with an adapter (manual focus, of course). The quality of lenses available is amazing.

The Spotmatic is an older line, hence it is a whole lot cheaper. It also uses the M42 screw mount, while the K1000 uses the Pentaz K mount, which is bayonet. There a lot more selection lens-wise with the M42 mount - Takumars, Carl Zeiss Jena, Jupiters, Volnas, Industars, Zenitars, etc.
