Not really sure where to post this... but I was just wondering, where do you guys get your backgrounds and props and stuff from? I've been using just material from the fabric store (which is only 60in wide ) and the only props I have is easter stuff I got from walmart and a tutu I made. My plan is to get my home studio up and running and I want to do maternity, newborn, kids, and couples/engagement. What kinds of props do you use for these types of photo shoots?

If you are crafty and like to do things on your own, one word... styrofoam.
For children's portraits you can make abc blocks, lollipops, candies, all sorts of things depending on the size of styrofoam you have. Before painting cover it in a layer of none toxic glue. (white glue)

Check out craft stores also... there are usually piles of ideas as far as portraits go.

I'd be interested to know what others use also. Idea's are always welcomed.

I am very crafty and have thought about doing that... just wasn't sure if there was an easy way to keep my time to a minimum... but I'm sure making them would probably be the cheapest way. Anyone else????

Ohh sorry... I forgot to mention... I've bought lots from the dollar store also. Pretty baskets, simple wings, tiaras, cute bags.. that sort of things.

I hope someone else has some other ideas for you as well. :)
