I'll be going to an animal park next weekend (Northwest Trek, south of Seattle area). Trying to decide if I should bring both the 70-200mm and the Tammy 150-600mm. Will be using 7D2 body.

Will be on a tram, it is a special "photographers" tour, so will be a little more room and catered too but I don't want to lug around the big Tammy if the 70-200mm and a 1.4x TC will do.


Appreciate any thoughts and experiences, especially from anyone familiar with Northwest Trek.

Not familiar with where you are going. But I would leave the 70-200 at home and take the 150-600 with me... With animals - either in the zoo or in the wild - you can never get close enough.

Take the Tameron for sure. I go to the local park with a 600 sometimes and it doesnt seem close enough. Even teh 600+2x gets me only so far.
