This is the Indian Rhino. Found only in the north east of the Indian subcontinent.
If you see it in person, it looks very similar to triceratops body armour.

I must admit that is what I originally thought when I saw it but the zoo has labelled it as such. A quick look at the WWO says the same with Indian Rhino being in adverted commas. https://www.worldwildlife.org …/greater-one-horned-rhino (external link)

I checked with Wikipedia and they listed it as Indian Rhino. I searched there for the Greater One Horn Rhino but the page does not exist in Wiki. Go figure.
In any case, the name is geographically correct that it is only found in that part of the world.

I think it depends on your audience as to which is used. The International Rhino foundation list the further option of Nepalese as a name for the Indian/Greater One Horned Rhino so that's three options - two area related and the other referring to the scientific name "unicornis".
The Javan Rhino is shown on the WWO site as the "Lesser One Horned Rhino" so that's the counter to the "Greater" moniker.

So armed with "Indian"/"Nepalese"/"Greater One Horn" vrs "Javan"/"(Asian)Lesser One Horned", one should be well equipped to know which one somebody else is talking about.

All I know after all this merry googling is that I don't want any of them deciding to sit on me!

It is a heartache to be reminded of the Javan Rhino. They are now considered extinct species. So is the Javan Tiger. I wish Zoos came to the rescue to preserve the remnants of these species so that they can help breed and repopulate these species. But I think it is all but too late.

Out of curiosity where were these taken? I’m not familiar with Lion City.
