I just got the Canon 100mm 2.8 Macro lens. It's very sharp and I love it so far. I want to try some macro work but I'm just not into insects. I know I can try textures of different materials like wood, metal, etc.

What other subjects do people shoot for macro? Just looking for some general ideas. Thanks!

I love shooting macro. I have zero interest in insects.

I shoot things like coins and paper money, textures of odd items, unusual perspectives of odd items, flowers, etc.

Gently squeeze apart a computer CPU chip and photograph the innards.

The inside of a mechanical wristwatch (the kind you have to wind up every day) can be quite interesting when only a portion of it fills the frame.....

I've also shot close-ups of chunks of aluminum foil which I had wadded up and re-opened a bit, then played several different colored "Christmas tree" lights on. You can get all sorts of various colored displays that way.

lint

Now that's one I never would have thought of. Finding a subject shouldn't be hard around my house.:D

Um...

That's what I thought...

Some body parts will need a macro lens (so I've been told) ;)

Water drops are some of the most fun I've had with my macro lens. :D
