I've been there...

My Ex MIL use to complain about every family photo that I took.... She would B**** and carry on like there was no tomorrow... Then one year at Christmas, i took a bunch of family photos, posted them to my site and locked them so that they couldn't be copied... Then she called and asked me for copies and I asked her what size she wanted and how many. She told me and then I told her the price and that the payment was due up front!!

It use to really bother me that some would make nasty remarks about my photos, then a very good friend of mine gave me some advice.... "People who trash talk other people for whatever reason, are just not happy with their lives and don't want to see other people do good or be happy" So thinking about that comment, made me realize it's much better to just let it roll off your back and love what you do no matter what nasty comments people say!!

Clearly either you suck or they suck. After seeing your webpage it's obvious that it's their attitude that sucks!

Take no heed of their lack of appreciation, you do an amazing job and I'm sure a lot of people admire your work. Keep it up and don't let the ingrates drag you down.

Thanks so much guys. I hate to sound like such a geek about all this. I sort of mentioned it to her today by explaining how it takes a lot of work and time to get some of these images right. I was showing them pics from yesterday on the TV (where the resolution completely sucks, but whatever). She commented on liking a few of them. So you are probably right. She probably just said it out of just being naive about the subject rather than meaning she thought it was a waste of time. I think most people don't understand that you put your whole heart into this stuff. Sometimes I'm not sure why I do this either! It is a lot of work, but I think I've turned to it to fulfill that need of being constructive and creative. And it's filled that void while I've been at home and out of the work force. I guess I can't expect everyone to realize that. And it isn't something you just say out of the blue. I think for me it's more about being "accepted" and feeling needed than being given a pat on the back... if that makes any sense.

Anyway, you guys have been a real help. Thanks again for all your support and help in this. I appreciate it.

I take pictures of my extended family and e-mail them the pictures. I know that they've recieved them because they show up on their Myspace pages, but they never acknowledge that I sent them at all. Not a peep.

Happens all the time and is always irritating... mildly flattering, but irritating nonetheless...
