I own a Canon Powershot A560. Every time i connect it to my PC, the camera window starts up.

However the Set my Camera and the Starts Remote Shooting button are not enabled in the camera window. Due to this I am unable to do remote shooting.
I am able to download and print images through camera window but no remote shooting.

I have Camera window Version 6.4 and Zoom browser Version 5.8 installed in my PC.

Any help will be appreciated.

Hello...
I have the exact same problem with my A430.
Under Win 98 SE every thing worked perfectly.
Now under XP the Remote Shooting is not activated.
I get the "Cannot detect camera" message and button is not activated.

Blogs have suggestes many routes:
I have tried uninstalling and reinstaling...noting changes.
The batteries are OK....noting changes.
I have tried all USB manipulation ...noting changes.
and more...

HELP...
Mike

Not sure if this helps, but here are a few in-camera settings that prevent remote shooting, as far as I know:

1. Self-timer
2. Mirror lockup
3. Bulb exposure

EOS 500D | Sigma 10-20mm EX | EF-S 18-55mm IS | EF 50mm f/1.8 II | Sigma 70-300mm macro | Tripod | CPL | 25% GND | 0.2% ND | Canon RC-1 | 430EX Speedlite

Thanks for the reply...
Unfortunately, I'm quite sure that none of these 3 points are
the cause of the problem in this case.

I'm amazed how such a "generalized" problem can be so difficult to fix.
.... "Cannot detect camera" ....
It works fine in 98se, so why not in XP..... *$?*\!\!@$$$$$XP-!!!!

For now curiosity keeps me working on it.
But what a waste of time !

I had the same problem, then I put the camera in 'Play' mode instead of 'Photo' mode. That worked!

Hope this helps.

How do you do that?
