Nice job. These stand out for me because you've taken a low position (or was it remote?) and made the players look big.

So many people take photos of their kids playing football and they tower above them, thus killing the shot but these are well thought out and well executed.

Goto to agree with everything said here... great shots, enhanced by the angle.

Why don't more people take pics of kids from a kids perspective?

:D

Well i've always been told to shoot low but i've never seen anyone do that at football (sorry soccer :p). Tell you what though - you nailled it!

I always shoot from my knees or butt even when shooting kids to adults. I love the perspective. I hate shooting standing up to be honest.

These are fine examples of what is possible shooting small children playing soccer. Great work and thank you for sharing these.

Many thanks to you all. :)

I used a 70-200 f/2.8L IS on an EOS-1Ds Mark III for these shots. They're all cropped to some degree.

And as far as lying on the ground goes, sure, it's a great vantage point. But it also makes it a heck of a lot easier to support the lens and camera when one's elbows are on the ground. ;)

I also like the shirts! Far better than the typical logo t-shirt!

Josh,

These really are great. I normally shoot from a low position, crouching or sitting, when taking pictures of my kids playing soccer but I have never tried laying down. The perspective is great, I'll need to give it a try. Thanks for sharing!

Jim

ive thought about shooting from my stomach too but our games are useually in the mornings so the grass is still wet and icky! ive thought about taking a blanket but i work the perimiter of the field so i tend to move around quite a bit and it seems like it would be too much of a pain. after looking at these though i may just try it this weekend!

We have been so lucky to have the British Everton organization become involved with our local youth soccer.
