If you've already got a lesser Rebel then don't bother upgrading. If this is your first, and you can afford it, it's certainly better than its predecessors. The new kit lens is better than the old one as well.

$899 is a bit steep though. If you're a AAA member you can get 8% of at Circuit City. You can get a 10% coupon from USPS for Best Buy and if you're a Reward Zone member they'll send you a 12% coupon every month or so.

don't buy from stores like Ritz, wolf camera, curcuit city, e.g. They can charge up to twice as much! Buy from bhphotovideo.com, the most reputable photography dealer. Just ask anybdoy and they will recommend B&H for the lowest legitimate and trustworthy prices.

Na, just kidding, you are still a loser.
^^ If you higlight this you will be cool ^^

Agreed, I always try and steer people clear of buying from Circuit City, or Best Buy, they are so over priced. I would recommend

Adorama
Amazon
B&H

One of those three, and they are all reputable.
Best of luck!

All of my local stores (Ritz, Best Buy, CC, etc) have it for the same prices (both the kit and the body only version) as Amazon and B&H. The camera was just released so there is not going to be much a price difference anywhere. Best Buy has proven to be the cheapest if you have the coupon.

I don't have a local Canon dealer. I checked all my usual online camera shops and they were all the same price ($880/body or $999/body/lens CAD). The nearest Canon dealer (three hours drive) got the XSI in on Thrusday, Apr 10. I drove down on Friday and picked up mine with the kit lens 18-55is.
I wanted a compact & light dslr that I could take with me everywhere. I am impressed with the XSI so far.

My friend has this camera, i used it for about 2 days.
I find it slightly better then my XTi with the live view and it just feels better in your hands and has more "power".
i say buy this camera, and you start off with a good lens right away without having to upgrade.

if its your first dslr then id say go for it.
its a great price point IMO and it will take you a long time to outgrow it.

pretty much agree with everyone here. If this is your first DSLR then go for it, I personally did not go with the Rebel family because they felt to small in my hands (felt like I was clawing the things to death) but the XXD series felt perfect. Ended up just finalizing a purchase for a 20D from another forum member.

I own the XTI and have large hands. It felt small in my hands, as well, but the grip I have since added solved the problem and makes portrait (as opposed to landscape) pictures that much easier.

I bought mine from Beach Audio for 860. The cost on the camera is 795.

For them maybe. Not for larger outfits.
